RBC Dominion Securities Inc, the investment banking arm of Royal Bank of Canada, is beefing up its European metals and mining group, hiring two people into high profile roles.
Rod Beddows, an industry veteran with more than 30 years of experience, has been named as a senior advisor. His expertise is in providing advice to corporate clients, particularly in the steel industry. Before joining RBC, he was founder and director with Hatch Corporate Finance International.
RBC also announced the appointment of Maria Perez-Corral as vice president. She has a decade of experience in investment banking, and most recently, she held the position of director at UBS AG, where she covered the global steel sector. Earlier in her career, she worked at JPMorgan Chase & Co., where she focused on mergers and acquisitions in steel and mining. Mr. Beddows and Ms. Perez-Corral are working out of London and report to Richard Horrocks-Taylor, head of metals & mining investment banking, Europe with RBC.
In a statement, Mr. Horrocks-Taylor said "Rod and Maria's many years of experience, together with their specialized knowledge of the steel sector, strengthen our metals & mining group in Europe, as transaction activity in the steel sector is on the rise/"
RBC already has one of the largest mining teams among banks, with seven offices globally.
