Michael Dowse proved his affinity for hosers and violence in Fubar and Fubar II, so his next project sounds like a perfect fit for the Canadian director.

In Goon, set to hit theatres next year, Dowse tells the story of a bouncer who leads a semi-pro hockey team of misfits, "beating the crap out of everything that stands in his way," as the plot synopsis on imdb.com puts it.

The film is pretty much the perfect trinity for Dowse.

"I love hockey, love violence, love comedy," he says. "I want all three of those in a big way."

Safe to say that while it's about Canucks on ice, it's not going to be Men With Brooms.

The movie was written by Evan Goldberg, who co-wrote Superbad and Pineapple Express, and Jay Baruchel, the Canadian actor last seen onscreen alongside Nicolas Cage in The Sorcerer's Apprentice.

Filming is slated to begin next month.

"Jay and Evan have done a great job on the script and we just keep writing and we always use improv anyway," Dowse says. "It's going to be awesome."
