D.W. Wilson
Canadian D.W. Wilson is the winner of this year's BBC National Short Story Award and a $24,000 prize.
The organizers of the U.K. award say the Kootenay Valley, B.C. native is the youngest-ever winner of the contest.
His short story The Dead Roads is about two school buddies on a road trip through Alberta and their fight for the affections of the same girl.
The judges unanimously chose Wilson's story for the prize and called it "perfectly constructed" and "note perfect."
Earlier this month, Hamish Hamilton Canada released Wilson's first collection of short stories called Once You Break A Knuckle, which includes The Dead Roads.
Wilson's debut novel, Ballistics, is expected to be released next year.
