They sue for divorce. And they write books, like this one from the former first lady of South Carolina. Governor Mark Sanford claimed he'd spent five days in virtuous hiking on the Appalachian Trail when he was actually in the arms of his mistress in Argentina, at taxpayer expense. Sanford's story reveals a woman who gave up a lot for marriage (career, home, religion), but who is determined not to be cast as another tabloid victim.
