Will Ferguson
The Calgary writer who wrote some of the jokes for speakers at the closing ceremonies of the 2010 Olympics has made it to the literary award podium.
Will Ferguson has won the Stephen Leacock Medal for Humour for his book Beyond Belfast: A 560-Mile Walk Across Northern Ireland on Sore Feet.
A release from Ferguson's publisher says the book was judged the most humorous one published in Canada by a Canadian.
Beyond Belfast records Ferguson's attempt to walk the entire Ulster Way - a 900-kilometre path that circles Northern Ireland.
It's the third time Ferguson has won the Leacock, also getting top honours in 2002 and 2005.
For the closing ceremony at the Vancouver Games, Ferguson wrote material for luminaries such as William Shatner and Michael J. Fox.
