The Bounty Hunter (2010)
This is a high-concept film: one idea, and the rest follows like a tame pooch. Bounty hunter Milo (Gerard Butler) is assigned to find ex-wife Nicole (Jennifer Aniston) and take her to jail. Cue the he-yelps, she-yelps fights, the slapstick in high heels and the inevitable forced bonding when bad guys chase them. Much will depend on your fondness for Butler and Aniston, who don't exhibit a lot of chemistry; even director Andy Tennant says in the extras that "she found him trying at times," though "at the same time rather endearing."
Film Noir Classic Collection Vol. 5 (1945-1956)
Hot on the heels of a second helping of Columbia Pictures film-noir titles comes this eight-picture set from Warner Bros. Start with these two winners. In Cornered (1945), Dick Powell, fresh from playing private eye Philip Marlowe in Murder, My Sweet, stars as a Canadian airman trying to track down the villain who ordered his wife's death. In Armored Car Robbery (1950), an officer seeks to uncover a ruthless mastermind played by William Talman, who seven years later would become the upright prosecutor Hamilton Burger on Perry Mason.
