Producers of a St-Jean-Baptiste celebration in Quebec deny media reports that two Montreal bands - Bloodshot Bill and Lake of Stew - had been booted from the event lineup due to language differences. They said yesterday that they still planned on going forward with the original lineup.

The performances came into question after one of the festival's French sponsors learned of the anglophone bands' involvement and threatened to withdraw their sponsorship. But according to Martine Groulx of C4, "No decision has been made. ... So for now, they're still on the bill and we maintain our choice. We're still happy with the lineup we chose."

The event's producers say they will announce a final decision tomorrow. Their event, held June 23, is billed as alternative event to the annual fête nationale.
