Head Case Season 2 (2009)
Other comedies have tackled the byplay between therapist and patient - The Bob Newhart Show, Dr. Katz: Professional Therapist - but Head Case, now sadly cancelled, is hands down the funniest. Elizabeth Goode (Alexandra Wentworth) is a counsellor far loopier than her celebrity clients (real celebrities playing mock versions of themselves). Wentworth's whip-smart portrayal can switch from giddiness to dry-heaving self-pity in a second. Cast includes Steve ( Barney Miller) Landesberg as a mooching psychiatrist.
Kingdom Series 3 (2009)
If this show were a cup of tea, it would be warm, not hot. There is human drama, but nothing too upsetting. There are offbeat problems, but few that can't be resolved by Stephen Fry as avuncular Peter Kingdom, an English solicitor working in a Norfolk village called Market Shipborough. Long shots of rural countryside? Check. Colourful locals? Check. Mouth-watering country estates? Check. It's well done if you're up for its cozy take on life. The six-episode Series 3 ends with a cliffhanger about Kingdom's identity.
