Holly McKenzie-Sutter is a content editor for the Globe and Mail in Toronto on the programming team, focused on the Report on Business section. She produces the Report on Business homepage, edits breaking and developing stories, crafts headlines, alerts and other display copy, and works with editorial staff across the newsroom on digital publication and promotion plans for Globe stories. She also edits The Globe and Mail homepage on Sundays and pitches in on other news production work, including newsletters and the business print section.
Previously Holly worked as managing digital producer at BNN Bloomberg, where she oversaw daily digital coverage of Canadian business, economics, and markets, and as a digital writer for the outlet. Before that, she worked as a reporter-editor at The Canadian Press in Ontario and Newfoundland and Labrador. She was part of an National Newspaper Award-winning team for breaking news coverage of the 2020 Nova Scotia mass killing. While at CP, she was a legislative reporter and covered multiple elections, court cases, breaking news events, and wrote short features. She also wrote about arts for The Georgia Straight weekly paper in Vancouver.
Holly is from Georgetown, Ontario. She has a Master of Journalism from the University of British Columbia and a Bachelor of English and Cinema Studies from the University of Toronto. At U of T she was co-editor-in-chief of campus paper The Strand.
She enjoys reading, the outdoors, and dabbles in arts and crafts.
