Matthew Scace is a reporter in The Globe and Mail's Calgary bureau, covering politics, breaking news and provincial affairs.

He has spent the bulk of his career in Western Canada, where his work has focused on Alberta politics, wildfires, the energy sector and rural issues in northern British Columbia.

Before joining The Globe, Matthew reported for various outlets, including The Canadian Press, Calgary Herald and Prince George Post. His reporting has been nominated for a National Newspaper Award.

Matthew published his first book, Jasper on Fire: Five Days of Hell in a Rocky Mountain Paradise, in January 2025.

Matthew is based in Calgary.
