Bernard Naumann, President & CEO of Munich Re, Canada (Life) has been elected Chair of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Life and Health Insurance Association.

He became CEO in 2017 and is responsible for developing and executing Munich Re’s Canadian life reinsurance business strategy for Canada and the Caribbean. He has over 25 years of experience delivering value to life and health insurance.

Bernard began his career with an actuarial consulting firm, where his responsibilities included Individual Life valuation, system sales and migrations, and merger and acquisition support. He was appointed Senior Vice President, Individual Reinsurance in 2007 and then Senior Vice President, Reinsurance, overseeing all business lines, in 2016.

Bernard is a graduate of the University of Waterloo and is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (SOA), as well as of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries. He has been active with the University of Waterloo and the Canadian Institute of Actuaries in several roles. He also served on the Board of Munich Re of Canada, the non-Life affiliate.
