Hamilton police are crediting a 10-year-old boy with helping to save his friend from drowning.
The incident happened on Thursday night while the two boys were on the docks at the Hamilton Bay sailing club.
They say one of the children slipped and fell into Lake Ontario.
Police happened to be in the area and came to investigate when they saw a person in the icy water.
When they got there, officers saw the boy holding on to his friend, preventing him from being completely submerged in the lake.
Police pulled the victim from the water and say both boys were cleared from needing any further treatment.
