The City of Montreal is lifting a boil water advisory for several West Island communities following an alert over failed water quality tests a day earlier.
City officials issued a release today saying Pierrefonds-Roxboro, Pointe-Claire, Dollard-Des-Ormeaux, Kirkland, Île-Bizard-Sainte-Geneviève, and Baie d’Urfé tap water is again safe for consumption.
Residents of those areas were told on Saturday not to drink unboiled water, even if they were using a water filter, after a test showed “non-compliant water quality on a sampling point in the network.”
The new advisory says analysis shows the water is now safe for consumption.
It advises residents to leave cold water running for a few minutes from indoor and outdoor faucets to allow complete emptying of the pipes.
The city also recommends emptying, cleaning and washing coffee machines and changing water filters.
