Ontario’s police watchdog says a 30-year-old woman is dead following a police-involved shooting in Hamilton.
Special Investigations Unit spokesman Carm Piro says police received a call about a woman with a knife in a home at about 1 a.m. Saturday.
The agency says one officer deployed a stun gun, and another shot a firearm.
A news release says the woman was pronounced dead just after 2 a.m. ET.
Piro says an autopsy will be performed.
He says SIU investigators are interviewing witnesses and the officers involved in the incident.
The unit is an arm’s-length agency that investigates incidents involving the police that have resulted in death, serious injury or reports of sexual assault.
