Ontario’s police watchdog is investigating a shooting involving police in western Toronto that injured an 18-year-old man.

The Special Investigations Unit says Toronto police were executing a search warrant around 6 a.m. in Etobicoke when a police weapon discharged.

The man was shot in the arm by a police weapon following an interaction in an apartment between officers and a man.

The man was treated in hospital.

The SIU is an arm’s length agency that investigates incidents involving police that cause death, serious injury and allegations of sexual assault.
