U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran and retaliatory attacks targeting Gulf countries including Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait and Jordan have caused significant upheaval in the Middle East and surrounding areas, leaving affected citizens and visitors seeking shelter and safety. The Middle East conflict has caused global and political instability, affecting oil prices, stocks and more.

Travellers abroad are stuck in limbo, trying to navigate cancelled flights and airport closures. In a statement issued Monday morning, Global Affairs Canada said it is increasing staffing to help Canadians overseas, but also urged those affected to prepare contingency plans.
