Canada’s first major auto show, the 2026 Montreal Auto Show, starts Friday and runs until Jan. 25. Surprisingly, amid the wild winter weather, there’s a number of standout vehicles that are sports cars. Here are six of our favourite:

2026 Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 Roadster

This Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 roadster is the epitome of open-top luxury and performance. Offered in two colours – Red Ambiance and White Ambiance, the Red Ambiance is the way to go, especially when its set against a jet black hood that’s monogrammed with the Maybach emblem.

Other exquisite touches include an illuminated radiator grille engraved with Maybach lettering and rose gold accented headlights. Inside, Nappa leather upholstery in Crystal White is delicately embroidered with a distinct kaleidoscope design. Neck heaters incorporated in the headrests along with the circular turbine-like air vents and a large centre screen make the cabin feel sophisticated and modern.

While it doesn’t have a V12 engine, the four-litre twin-turbo V8 engine delivers 577 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque. This two-seat roadster rings in at $362,148, including freight and pre-delivery inspection.

2026 Lamborghini Temerario and Revuelto

Canada is one of Lamborghini’s top-10 markets so it’s no surprise two raging bulls are taking centre stage at the show. Both are plug-in hybrids including its flagship Revuelto super car, which has a 6.5-litre V12 mid-engine paired with three electric motors that deliver 1,001 horsepower. It can hit 100 kilometres an hour in only 2.5 seconds enroute to a top speed that exceeds 350 kilometres an hour.

The Temerario, the successor to the best-selling Huracan, is powered by a twin-turbo V8 engine with three electric motors. Together, they produce more than 900 horsepower, allowing it to hit 100 kilometres an hour in 2.7 seconds. But neither vehicle is cheap. The Temerario starts north of $470,000 while the Revuelto is more than $775,000.

2026 Ford Mustang GTD

This isn’t your ordinary Ford Mustang. This is a limited-edition, street-legal performance version of the Mustang dubbed GTD. Under the hood is a supercharged 5.2-litre V8 engine with 815 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque.

Inspired by the Mustang GT3 race car, it has functional and aesthetic aerodynamic side vents, massive wheels and a huge rear spoiler that’s sure to block rear visibility. Inside, it has crisp, gaming-inspired graphics on the 13-inch dual centre display screens. While it’s official Nürburgring time is six minutes and 52 seconds, it’s still not as fast as the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X.

2026 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X

Just when you thought the Corvette couldn’t get better, the new ZR1X joins the family for 2026. This electrified hypercar is the fastest and most powerful Corvette ever built. Powered by a 5.5-litre twin-turbocharged V8 and the Corvette E-Ray’s electric motor, this all-wheel-drive hybrid delivers a whopping 1,250 horsepower.

It can hit 96 kilometres an hour in 1.68 seconds to be exact – Chevrolet just tested it on a drag strip in Michigan, making it the fastest gas-powered American production car ever built. It also achieved a record lap time at Nürburgring of six minutes and 49 seconds. Prices start at $209,700.

2026 Toyota GR86

Now here’s a sports car that won’t break the bank – it’s the Toyota GR86 from Toyota’s Gazoo Racing division. This display model is a new limited-production Yuzu Edition coupe in an impossible-to-miss, love-it-or-hate-it Yuzu yellow. Starting at $44,825, before freight and pre-delivery inspection ($2,881.50), this two-door, rear-wheel-drive sports car has a flat-four engine with 228 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. The two back seats are useless for passengers, but handy for holding a purse or briefcase.
