This March, Report on Business magazine released its second annual Women Lead Here list, which includes a group of Canada’s largest companies that have proven, through data collection verified by The Globe and Mail, to have enough female representation in their executive ranks to warrant recognition.

Accompanying the release of the list was The Globe’s second annual Women Lead Here summit, which featured representatives from companies on the list, as well as experts and other executives from corporate Canada with an interest in furthering gender parity and diversity within the country’s executive ranks. Conversations paid particular attention to the risk of a prolonged “she-cession” in Canada due to COVID-19; the necessity of inclusive pipelines in building toward greater gender parity in positions of leadership; and insights from The Globe’s recent Power Gap series on the systemic challenges facing female career progression.

Leading the discussions were Globe and Mail editors and reporters, including ROB magazine Deputy Editor Dawn Calleja, Senior Writer and Columnist Rita Trichur, and Investigative Reporter Robyn Doolittle. Joining them in conversation were representatives from companies including Shopify, CPP Investments, Roots, The Co-operators Group, EY, Citibank and McCarthy Tétrault, as well as members of academia and organizations focused on the advancement of women and social justice.
