The Alberta government is pledging up to $250,000 to support Syrian refugee relief efforts.
The province says it will contribute $75,000 to the Canadian Red Cross and match up to another $75,000 in donations made by Albertans to the organization.
Premier Rachel Notley says her government will also contribute an additional $100,000 to Alberta-based settlement agencies.
She says as Canada's response to the refugee crisis becomes clear, Alberta will do more to help these families successfully settle into life in the province.
British Columbia, Quebec and Manitoba have also pledged money to help Syrian refugees and Premier Brad Wall has said his government will support more refugees in Saskatchewan.
