An Alberta RCMP officer has been charged with several firearm-related offences.
The agency that investigates major incidents involving police says it started an investigation into serious allegations against a police officer and member of the Fort Saskatchewan RCMP detachment.
Search warrants were executed at the police officer's home on April 23.
Constable Stephen Hudson is charged with the unlawful possession of a Bushmaster .223-calibre assault rifle, a restricted weapon, and the careless storage of that assault rifle.
He is also accused of unlawful possession of a .22 calibre rifle and its careless storage.
Hudson is also charged with unlawful transfer of his RCMP 9-mm service pistol and its improper storage.
Police also seized several illegal cartridge magazines.
Hudson was brought before a Justice of the Peace and has been released on his own recognizance with conditions.
