Police in Edmonton are looking for a brazen burglar who used a backhoe to bash in the wall of a grocery store and steal an ATM.

Officers were called to the city's northwest Tuesday morning to investigate a report of property damage.

They found a stolen backhoe and noted significant damage to an exterior wall of the store.

It was determined the heavy equipment had been used to break through the wall and remove an ATM inside.

Police believe the suspect or suspects fled in an unidentified vehicle.

Investigators are urging anyone who may have witnessed what happened or who may have seen a backhoe being driven in the area to contact police.
