A 16-year-old boy has been charged with second-degree murder in the stabbing death of his stepmother.
Police in Calgary say officers were called to a residence in the city's southeast late Tuesday night and found a 33-year-old woman with life-threatening injuries.
The woman died in hospital.
Investigators believe several family members and friends were drinking at a get-together when a dispute broke out between the woman and the accused.
Three people were taken into custody, but two were released without charges.
The 16-year-old, who cannot be identified because of his age, was to appear in court Thursday.
