Police are investigating what they say is a case of animal cruelty in northeast Calgary.
A resident called police Monday afternoon after finding the family dog dead and been buried in the backyard.
Police say an investigation by the Calgary Humane Society and City of Calgary animal and bylaw services has determined the dog's death is suspicious.
Calgary police say it appears the dog's death was not random and don't believe any other animals in the community are in danger.
