Police are investigating a fatal shooting in northwest Calgary.

Emergency crews responded to a home on Arbour Lake Drive following reports of a shooting around 5 p.m. Thursday.

Mike Dilelo, who lives on the street, went outside after hearing an unusual popping sound and discovered a body in the street in a pool of blood.

Dilelo blocked traffic with his vehicle while his wife and several neighbours attended to the injured man.

Police say the man in his early 40s died of his injuries.

Neighbours says the man and his wife have lived in the neighbourhood for years.

Police say it appears to have been a targeted attack.
