A boy at an Edmonton school has been suspended after shooting another student with a BB gun.
Police say officers were called to the Father Michael Troy School on Thursday morning after a girl in Grade 7 was hit in the leg with a BB by a boy in the same grade.
Edmonton Catholic Schools spokesperson Lori Nagy says the boy thought the safety latch was on.
Nagy says the girl has a welt on her leg but is going to be fine.
Police confiscated the handgun-style weapon, but no charges are being laid.
Nagy says the school board takes all weapons complaints seriously, and says in this case a "really good student" made an "unwise decision."
