Wardens are hunting for someone who killed a large bull elk with a crossbow in Jasper National Park.
It is against federal law to hunt in national parks.
The penalties for killing an elk in the park can include a fine of up to $750,000 and five years in jail.
Parks Canada says the elk's carcass was found just off of Highway 16 about 10 kilometres east of the Jasper town site on Sept. 5.
Wardens are seeking tips from anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area around that time.
