Officials at the Calgary Zoo have little information about the death of a woodland caribou calf.

The zoo's website says one of the zoo's five-month-old caribou twins, Chocolate, died Nov. 3 from complications related to sudden severe neck trauma.

The zoo isn't able to say how the injury occurred, but says Chocolate was — quote — "an endearing member of the herd" and will be missed.

The zoo has three remaining females in the Canadian Wilds exhibit.

Woodland caribou are listed as a threatened species in Canada.
