Officials with the Royal Canadian Legion in Prince Edward Island say as many as 20 poppy donation cans have been stolen.
John Yeo, spokesman for the Charlottetown branch of the legion, says the cans were stolen from various businesses across the city earlier this week.
He says the problem was discovered when members of the legion went to pick up the donation cans and were told that someone had already collected them.
Yeo says Charlottetown police are investigating.
He says it would be impossible to estimate how much money was in each can because the amount of donations can vary dramatically.
