A British Columbia woman is dead and a New Brunswick man hospitalized with serious injuries after a single-vehicle crash in northwestern Ontario.

Ontario Provincial Police say the vehicle went off Highway 17 (west of Vermilion Bay near Nixon Lake) in Machin, near Dryden, early Saturday morning and struck a rock cut.

They say 32-year-old Amanda Gulliver, who was residing in Kitimat, B.C., but originally from Miramichi, N.B., died in the crash.

An unidentified 32-year-old man from New Brunswick was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The force's collision unit continues to investigate.
