Police in New Brunswick have found the body of a 28-year-old man from the Tobique First Nation who drowned in the St. John River on Tuesday.

RCMP say they were called Tuesday morning concerning a stolen kayak from the Tobique First Nation.

At the same time they were also told a man had fallen out of a kayak on the St. John River near Perth-Andover after the boat rolled over.

A second man was in the kayak but was unable to save the man who had fallen out.

The body was found around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday following a search.

Police say the kayak involved was the one that was stolen, and the investigation into the theft and drowning continues.
