Chase Balisy's goal at 1:28 of the third period proved to be the difference as the St. John's IceCaps edged the Manchester Monarchs 3-2 in American Hockey League action on Wednesday.
Nicholas Blanchard and Austen Brassard also scored for the IceCaps (15-16-6), who stretched their winning streak to three games.
Maxim Kitsyn opened the scoring with his first of the season for Machester (24-8-4), and Colin Miller scored a power-play goal to pull the Monarchs to within one at 16:15 of the third period.
St. John's goaltender Connor Hellebuyck made 35 saves to pick up the victory.
Manchester's Patrik Bartosak stopped 22 shots in the losing effort.
The Monarchs were 1 for 1 on the power play. The IceCaps failed to score on two chances with the man advantage.
