The Prince Edward Island government says construction of the province's first youth addictions recovery centre will be finished in April.

Minister of Health and Wellness Doug Currie says the facility will offer addictions services for youths and support services for their families.

The province says renovations to the space in Summerside cost $800,000 and will feature classrooms, counselling offices and spaces for residential and day treatment programs.

The centre's services will be delivered by about 40 full- and part-time staff.
