A 74-year-old man who was struck by a car while he was crossing an intersection in a Halifax suburb has died from his injuries.

Police say William C. Lee was hit while he was in the crosswalk at the intersection of Portland Estates Boulevard and Portland Hills Drive last Friday evening.

The busy intersection is in the midst of a densely populated suburb that sees a steady flow of commuter traffic during rush hours.

Investigators say the car that struck the man was driven by a 23-year-old man.

Police say the investigation by its collision unit is ongoing and officers are looking to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the incident.
