Mike Condon made 27 saves for the Bulldogs (5-7-2), the Montreal Canadiens' minor league club. Hamilton snapped a three-game losing streak with the win.
John Albert replied for the IceCaps (4-8-5) late in the second period. Connor Hellebuyck stopped 40 shots for St. John's, the AHL affiliate of the Winnipeg Jets.
The Bulldogs could not score on their three power plays, while the IceCaps went 0 for 2 with the man advantage.
