Police in the Lunenburg area of Nova Scotia are investigating the fatal shooting of a horse.

The horse's death was reported to police on New Year's Day but the RCMP believe it was shot sometime between Dec. 20 and 25.

The white, seven-year-old female Percheron was last seen alive on Dec. 20.

The RCMP say the horse was one of four that roamed a 12-hectare property in Parkdale.

The other horses were not harmed.
