A judicial recount of votes in two municipal elections in Prince Edward Island has confirmed the original results on voting day.
In Charlottetown, results of the recount for the two candidates for councillor in Ward 1, Eddie Rice and Jamie Larkin, showed that Rice received 512 votes while Larkin received 503 votes.
As a result, Rice has been officially elected as councillor.
The Town of Cornwall has a so-called open ward system with six councillor positions, so all of the ballots cast had to be recounted.
The recount was requested by candidate Heather MacDonald who had finished seventh with 752 votes, four votes behind Shane McGuigan who had 756 votes.
Elections P.E.I. says after the recount, MacDonald remained at 752 votes while McGuigan received one more vote.
