Police say the driver of a tanker truck that flipped on its side on a major Metro Vancouver highway suffered minor injuries to his hands.
RCMP say an off-duty Mountie who helped to extract the driver from the truck also had minor cuts to his hands.
Const. Mike Moore says several litres of fuel spilled on Highway 1 in Burnaby after the truck rear ended a vehicle and slid along the concrete median for a short distance before flipping over.
The driver of the other vehicle was not injured.
Moore says the collision happened just after midnight Tuesday, closing a section of the Trans-Canada Highway until about 8 a.m. Wednesday as hazmat crews cleaned up the diesel.
Moore says there was light fog at the time of the crash but it's not considered a contributing factor.
