One man is dead after what police believe was a targeted shooting last night in Surrey, B.C.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team says a second man was injured in the incident just before 10:30 p.m.

Staff Sgt. Jennifer Pound says in a release that Surrey RCMP found two wounded victims after responding to a call for shots fired.

She says the men, both in their late 20s, were rushed to hospital by ambulance, but only one survived.

Pound says police are working to confirm a motive for the attack and identify the culprits.

She says police are contacting the victim's family members before releasing his identity.
