RCMP in Surrey, B.C., are asking for the public's help as they investigate the hit-and-run death of a pedestrian.

Police say the man was pushing a grocery cart at about 3:30 a.m. when he was struck from behind by a vehicle, possibly a semi-truck.

He was taken to hospital but died of his injuries.

Mounties and the coroners service are still trying to determine the identity of the victim, believed to be in his 30s or 40s.

Police say they are gathering video surveillance in an effort to determine the type of vehicle involved.
