A frantic overnight search has ended happily in Chase, B.C., with the discovery of a nine-year-old boy.

Kamloops Search and Rescue manager Alan Hobler says the child is fine and had spent the night at a friend's house.

RCMP and the Kamloops and Shuswap search and rescue teams were called shortly after 9 p.m. Thursday.

The parents of the boy, named Brooklyn, contacted police when they realized he was not with either of them.

Hobler says Brooklyn told his hosts he had permission to stay overnight.

Despite the overnight work and concern, Hobler says everyone is relieved the boy is OK. (CHNL)
