U.S. stock indexes ended mostly lower on Wednesday, breaking a string of five record high closes.
The Dow Jones industrial average fell 2.70 points, less than 0.1 per cent, to 17,612.20.
The Standard & Poor's 500 index lost 1.43, less than 0.1 per cent, to end at 2,038.25.
The Nasdaq composite climbed 14.58 points, or 0.3 per cent, to 4,675.13.
For the week:
The Dow is up 38.27 points, or 0.2 per cent.
The S&P 500 index is up 6.33 points, or 0.3 per cent.
The Nasdaq is up 42.60 points, or 0.9 per cent
For the year:
The Dow is up 1,035.54 points, or 6.2 per cent.
The S&P 500 index is up 189.89 points, or 10.3 per cent.
The Nasdaq is up 498.55 points, or 11.9 per cent.
