A federal judge has entered a not guilty plea for the wife of a former United Auto Workers vice-president on conspiracy and tax charges alleging a multiyear scheme to reward her and her late husband with first-class travel, designer clothing and jewelry.

Monica Morgan Holiefield was released on $10,000 unsecured bond following her arraignment Monday. The Detroit News reports she agreed to turn in her passport and her concealed pistol license as conditions of her bond.

The 54-year-old Harrison Township woman was indicted with former Fiat Chrysler executive Al Iacobelli last week in connection with an alleged conspiracy also involving UAW vice-president General Holiefield, who died in 2015.

Monica Morgan Holiefield's attorney, Steve Fishman, declined comment after the hearing.
