Some facts and figures about Southwest Airlines' expansion at Dallas Love Field:
— New destinations: Baltimore, Chicago, Denver, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Orlando and Washington starting Monday; Atlanta; Fort Lauderdale and Tampa, Florida; Orange County and San Diego, California; Nashville; New York; and Phoenix, starting Nov. 2.
— Southwest expects to operate about 160 flights a day in Dallas. By comparison, American Airlines and its regional subsidiaries operate about 800 at nearby Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.
— Southwest controls 16 of 20 gates at Love Field. Virgin America, United Airlines and Delta Air Lines (until January) will also operate there.
— Southwest started flying in 1971 with three planes serving three cities in Texas. Today, Southwest and its AirTran Airways subsidiary fly to nearly 100 cities with a fleet of about 680 planes.
