Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras has told leaders of the governing Radical Left Coalition that Greece is ready to accept a "viable and long lasting" deal with its lenders, but not on "humiliating terms."
At Saturday's meeting, Tsipras described the accomplishments of Syriza's first four months in government, which have been dominated by the negotiations with the heavily indebted country's creditors.
Although he said negotiations had entered a "final stretch," Tsipras hinted there is much ground still to be covered and that the Greek people cannot take more austerity. He also accused the International Monetary Fund of sticking to unreasonable demands and accused unnamed European officials of anticipating a failure of the negotiations.
