A toll collector has been struck and killed by a pickup truck on the Massachusetts Turnpike.
State police say the truck was exiting an E-ZPass lane just after midnight Friday at the Auburn toll plaza as the worker was walking across the same lane.
Police say 61-year-old Bill Pappas, of Holden, was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The 31-year-old pickup driver remained at the scene and wasn't injured.
The investigation is ongoing.
