The U.S. stock market opened slightly lower as traders looked over the latest jobs report.
Humana sank 8 per cent after the health insurer reported earnings that fell short of forecasts.
Before the market opened, the U.S. government reported solid job gains for October and a decline in the unemployment rate.
The Standard & Poor's 500 index edged down three points, or 0.2 per cent, to 2,028 of 9:35 a.m. Eastern time Friday.
The Dow Jones industrial average lost 44 points, or 0.3 per cent, to 17,510. The Nasdaq composite fell six points, or 0.1 per cent, to 4,632.
The Dow and S&P 500 closed at record highs the day before.
Bond prices rose. The yield on the 10-year Treasury note slipped to 2.36 per cent.
