Vail Resorts Inc. is planning to begin building lifts next summer to connect Canyons Resort and its newest acquisition, Park City Mountain Resort.

The Salt Lake Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/1ysRkpC ) that Vail Chief Executive Rob Katz said in the company's financial report for the fiscal year that they will be looking to upgrade or add new lifts, restaurants and snowmakers.

Vail purchased Park City Mountain Resort earlier this month for $182.5 million from Powdr Corp. It resolved a legal battle between two ski titans and paved the way for the creation of what could be the country's largest resort.

Ski Utah President Nathan Rafferty said the plans are exciting and turbocharge a long-term effort in place that would link seven Utah ski areas, including these two, with connecting lifts.
