Digital media is getting a higher profile at the Canadian Screen Awards.
The Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television has announced the inaugural Canadian Screen Awards Gala Honouring Excellence in Digital and Immersive Storytelling.
The gala will take place during the Canadian Screen Week, which runs next March 6 to March 12.
It will include new awards categories in the fields of digital and immersive media.
The new trophies honour acting, directing, best immersive experience and a social innovator award.
Producers may submit entries for the 2017 Canadian Screen Awards in the television and digital media categories through Aug. 19 at the academy website.
