CTV has picked up a series based on Canadian mystery novelist Giles Blunt's bestselling John Cardinal books.
The network says it ordered the six-part, one-hour drama from Toronto-based Sienna Films and Entertainment One (eOne).
The working title of the murder mystery, which is adapted from the novel "Forty Words for Sorrow," is "Cardinal."
Screenwriter Aubrey Nealon of "Orphan Black" and "Saving Hope" is penning the series and will also serve as executive producer and showrunner.
Montreal native Daniel Grou of "19-2" will direct.
The series sees John Cardinal investigating the mysterious death of a 13-year-old girl.
CTV says this is its first-ever series adaptation from a novel.
It plans to begin production in February and air the show as part of its 2016/17 schedule.
Blunt, who is also a screenwriter, hails from North Bay, Ont.
