An Edmonton man has died after he and another man were rushed to hospital following an apparent shooting in Winnipeg.

Police say both men were found when officers responded to reports of gunshots early Saturday.

They were taken to hospital in critical condition but Theodoros Belayneh, 32, of Edmonton didn't survive.

Two vehicles — a grey car with Alberta licence plates and a black SUV — were still at the scene hours later.

The car had what appeared to be bullet holes in the front window.

The second victim, an adult male, has been upgraded to stable condition.

Police are still investigating.
